Which Grasses are best for Florida?

Whatever species your lawn is, you are responsible for your choice and for maintaining it in a clean and attractive manner. You are responsible for keeping it trimmed, mowed, free of weeds, bugs, and dead spots. If you decide to re-sod your lawn, it is highly recommended you research options to avoid spending more to replace a mistake.

For more information on approved grass types, please see the University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences documentation HERE!

Your current lawn or any approved sod alternative (below) must be kept under six (6) inches tall:

  • St. Augustine
  • Bahia
  • Bermuda
  • Zoysia
  • Green vegetative ground cover (e.g., jasmine minima)
